An Evening of Tango with Morgan Luker & Milonga Berretín

Events | Headline and Cultural Forums

Few dance forms bring to mind evocative mystery, intrigue and sensual immediacy more than Tango. Like jazz, Argentina’s national dance/music was born of a complex melting pot of freed slaves, immigrants, social segregation, poverty and racism. Join the Council for an evening of tango culture, music and dancing. Morgan Luker (ethnomusicologist, and tango authority) will present a lively talk on the culture and politics of the contemporary tango scene in Buenos Aires. Following the presentation, Tango Berretín’s impresario Alex Krebs will instruct a beginning-dance lesson (no partner needed and no experience necessary!). Then surrender yourself to hours of tango dancing.
