Stephen Lewis, a household name in Canada and globally acclaimed advocate for the millions impacted by the global AIDS pandemic is the co-director of AIDS-Free World (www.aids-freeworld.org), an advocacy organization that grew out of his conviction that the AIDS pandemic can be defeated with better leadership and more urgent and effective responses. Mr. Lewis was the U.N. Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa from 2001-2006, and his extensive career in the fields of diplomacy, politics, activism and humanitarian work includes roles as Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF and Canadian Ambassador to the U.N.
