Red Portland Walking Tour

Who won the Battle of the Park Blocks, Portland's most divisive Vietnam War protest?
What happened when a Nazi ship docked in downtown Portland in 1936?
Where did Louise Bryant romance John Reed, the Portlander who took part in the Russian Revolution? (The couple was played by Diane Keaton and Warren Beatty in the movie "Reds".)
Join the Young Professionals for a Sunday afternoon walking tour featuring famous places and forgotten events in our city's storied history in radical politics and the international labor movement. Our guide will be Michael Munk, a former Rutgers University political science professor and author of The Portland Red Guide: Sites & Stories of Our Radical Past.
Munk will lead us on a two-hour stroll highlighting the city's long tradition of progressive activism, class struggle and race politics - a history often overlooked by Portlanders today. The tour begins at 3 p.m. in front of City Hall and ends at Paddy's Bar & Grill on Southwest Yamhill Street for no-host drinks and refreshments.
The cost of the tour is $5 for World Affairs Council members and $10 for non-members. Places are limited, so sign up today. We look forward to seeing you there and exploring "Red Portland" together!
