INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER SERIES
The International Speaker Series, going into its 18th season, is one of the nation’s premier platforms for international affairs. The series puts you in the room with the global leaders, visionaries, and inspiring voices that are changing our world— from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton, Shaun King, Mikhail Gorbachev, Madeleine Albright, Ehud Barak, Mona Eltahaway, Bono, Jane Goodall, Bill McKibben, Leymah Gbowee, Tawwakol Karman, Reza Aslan, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Wangari Mathaai, among others.
WorldOregon annually presents over 60 public programs exploring everything from hard-hitting global perspectives on climate, war, peace and security, trade and economics, the refugee crisis, and more with policy insiders, authors, and world leaders to interactive explorations into international food, arts and culture, and travel. Public programs happen throughout the week—whether during the lunch hour at our downtown offices next to the Oregon Historical Society, or after hours, hosted by one of our many partner organizations.
Join us January–March at Portland State University for The Great Decisions discussion series, an eight-week, noontime program exploring pivotal issues on the global stage. Great Decisions (which originated in Portland in 1954 and is now sponsored nationally by the Foreign Policy Association) is the longest-running, largest grassroots world affairs educational program of its kind.
