US Media US Embassy in Germany: A website published by the US Embassy in Germany giving an overview of the media in the USA, including descriptions of forms of media, ethical reporting, and freedom of the press. The State of the News Media: This website looks at the state of American journalism and holds an extensive amount of information on various forms of media. International Media Institutes and Federations>br> The Institute for Media, Policy and Civil Society: A non-profit organization working to protect and expand democracy and strengthen civil society. In emerging democracies around the world, the Media Program fosters responsible, free and independent media. Institute for War and Peace Reporting: An institute providing training to build capacity of local media around the world. The International Federation of Journalists: An international organization of journalists promoting freedom of the press and social justice. The website is divided into subjects and regions, and contains several links. International Federation of Journalists: Election Reporting Handbook: A handbook designed to assist journalists and media organizations in meeting the challenges of election reporting. (Note: Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.) Angus Reid Consultants: A research consulting group analyzing a diversity of international marketing research and polling services. The website includes a public opinion database, an election tracker, and policy trend analyses. The Center for War, Peace and teh News Media: The Global Reporting Network: The Global Reporting Network within the Center seeks to improve coverage of international security issues and includes publications and a description of network projects. Teacher Resources The US News Classroom Program: The US News Classroom Program brings objective, up-to-date news coverage. This short report presents an overview of journalism throughout World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and the War on Terrorism, focusing on government censorship, technology used by the media, and danger to media.
