Jim Lehrer holds press conference with student journalists

On Friday February 3, 2012, legendary broadcast journalist Jim Lehrer (PBS NewsHour) held a student press conference with 25 high school and university student participants from Oregon and Southwest Washington who took part in the World Affairs Council of Oregon’s “Emerging Journalist Scholarship” fund.  Lehrer's appearance was in conjunction with the launch of the Council's 2012 International Speaker Series at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

In addition, over 150 students received scholarship tickets to attend the evening event.    Participating schools included : Central Catholic High School, Glencoe High School - Crimson Times, Beaverton Arts & Communication Magnet Academy, David Douglas High School - The Highlander, Sunset High School, Goldendale High School, The Oregonian Journalism Camp, West Linn High School, Skyview High School, Lincoln High School, Portland State University – Vanguard, Mt. Hood Community College - The Advocate, Clark College - The Independent, Linn Benton Community College, Clackamas Community College, Oregon State University, Southern Oregon University - The Siskiyou.
