Delegation from Georgia
September 18 – October 8, 2008

This September the Council is excited to announce that a Community Connections group (10 visitors) from the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region of Georgia will spend three weeks (September 17 – October 8, 2008) in Oregon looking at rural environmental management in selected tourist areas. This group will be traveling to Bend and will need homestays in Bend, the nights of October 1 – 3, 2008. The hosting dates in Portland are: September 18 – 29 and October 4 – 8, 2008.

WE NEED HOMESTAYS!

Homestay hosts provide a spare room, breakfast and dinner (most evenings), and an American home experience. We will provide lunches, cultural events, professional meetings, and optional weekend activities for host families and participants, etc. If you can only host for part of the time, or if you would prefer to host two visitors rather than one, this can also be arranged.

For more information, please contact Theresa Burks, Community Relations Manager at: 503-274-7488.

Whether you are a family with 2.5 kids and a dog, a retired couple or individual suffering from empty nest syndrome, or living on your own in your first house or apartment, don't pass up this opportunity!

We can assign you a visitor, or you can choose - it's up to you. Please feel free to pass this information on to your friends and neighbors - you might have even more fun when a friend is sharing the experience!

Recruitment for the program’s participants is currently underway. Recruitment is focusing on including representatives of local government, businesses, active members of local communities and natural resource management specialists, leaders of regional think tanks, regional and inter-regional municipal associations, members of the mass media, and other stakeholders involved in environmental protection and community development, ecology, or environmental safety and hazards.
