Apply for the 2019-2020 Young Leaders in Action Program!

Do you want to make a difference in your local community while gaining an international perspective?

The Young Leaders in Action is a youth-directed program that brings together approximately 20 high school students from across the greater Portland area who are interested in engaging with all things international!

The goal of the YLA program is to develop a network of young leaders in our community with a strong awareness and understanding of global issues, and to build young leaders' leadership capacity. In this way, our Oregonian youth can take action through service, advocacy, and promotion of intercultural understanding for a larger global impact.

Participants meet twice per month from June-April to take part in:

Workshops on global issues including climate change, gender inequality, senior care, global conflict, and more!
Leadership training for community impact including project planning, conflict resolution, and public speaking
Community service and volunteer activities
Team-based collaboration on an action project related to the global-to-local theme of the Youth Forum held each Spring
Networking with fellow globally-minded youth, professional mentors, and international visitors from around the world!

Interested applicants must complete a personal application, teacher recommendation form, and peer recommendation.

Applications due by May 3rd!
