Africa Rising: Teach Africa Youth Forum

Events | Education

On December 2, educators and middle and high school students from across the region will immerse themselves in the cultures of the African continent and learn the true meaning of the expression 'Africa Rising'. Through a series of activities and workshops, ten student member delegations will expand their knowledge of history and contemporary issues and experience the music, dance, art, and cuisine of countries across the continent

There will be opportunities to learn from each other as well, as Africa Awareness to Action ideas are exchanged between delegations from schools statewide. There will also be an Africa Action Fair where students can meet with representatives of a variety of non-profit organizations currently working in Africa.

The Global Classroom’s Teach Africa Youth Forum 'Africa Rising' for middle and high school students will take place on Monday December 2, 2013 at Portland State University in Smith Memorial Student Union from 8:30 to 3:00. Each school that registers can bring ten students and two adults. There is no cost to attend the forum, but space is limited and early registration is encouraged. The deadline for registration is November 25, 2013.
