WHAT?
This timely Youth Forum will open with an Awareness to Action Session on Latin America and continue with breakout sessions representing the ancient, diverse and lively cultures of THE CARRIBEAN, MEXICO, CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA! This unique cultural immersion experience will also include a mid-day ethnic meal, entertainment, and a chance to visit with members of organizations representing and working in several Latin American countries. Breakout sessions will address both History & Contemporary Issues, Art, Music, Dance & Literature and much more! Each Youth delegation will leave with the outline of an Action Plan for sharing what they have learned with their classmates.

The Youth Forum will take place at Portland State University Smith Memorial Student Union, 1825 SW Broadway, Portland, OR
December 3, 2012 - 8:00 to 3:00.

WHY?
The relationship between the U.S. and Latin America directly affects the lives of people the world over. Understanding this region and its people is an essential part of the skills and knowledge needed to live and work in an increasingly interdependent world. The World Affairs Council of Oregon www.worldoregon.org and PSU Office of International Affairs www.oia.pdx.edu are partnering in a concerted effort to increase this much needed understanding.

A program outline and instructions will be sent in late November.
Curricular materials will be available for teachers at the Youth Forum, both free and for purchase.

“Teach the World Educator Conference and Youth Forum Series”.
Our Teach Latin America Educator Conference took place on May 12h, 2012.
The first in the series was Teach Africa. Next year we plan to return to Africa.
