Events | Headline and Cultural Forums

Join the Council as we take a look at “Back to School Around the World.” Finland’s education system has consistently ranked among the best in the world for more than a decade. The puzzle is, why Finland? The 60-minute documentary directed by Bob Compton guides us through an inside look at the world’s finest secondary education system.  Narrated by Harvard researcher Dr. Tony Wagner (author of The Global Achievement Gap), the film looks under the hood of Finland’s success - with candid classroom visits, and interviews with students, teachers, parents, administrators and government officials, to uncover the surprising factors that gave Finland its ranking as perhaps the top education system in the world.

Post -film discussion to follow, moderated by Jacqueline B. Temple, PhD (Portland State University; Fulbright Scholar to the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland)
