Making A Difference, Transforming Lives: A Path Appears

Events | Headline and Cultural Forums

Have you ever wanted to "make a difference," but faced with an overwhelming array of complex global issues and an equally overwhelming number of charitable causes and organizations, didn't know "how?" Nicholas Kristof, two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author and New York Times columnist, takes us to the frontlines of social change, at home and across the globe, highlighting everyday people who are creating opportunity and transforming lives. Drawing on his and Sheryl WuDunn's extensive, on-the-ground research that resulted in A Path Appears (their follow-up to the critically acclaimed Half The Sky), Kristof investigates the true impact of charitable giving and successful local and global initiatives that are making that difference. While it may be true, as Margaret Mead said, "that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world," Kristof issues a challenge to global citizens, from all nations and cultures, to put our heads and hearts together and do better. Presented in honor of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
