Avoiding Climate Catastrophe: Putting Science Before Politics

Events | 2013 International Speaker Series

James E. Hansen replaces Richard Leakey, who was originally scheduled to speak on this date. Tickets to Richard Leakey will be honored at the James E. Hansen lecture. Please send any questions or concerns to [email protected]

Named one of Foreign Policy's "100 Top Global Thinkers" in 2012, legendary climate scientist James E. Hansen, the maverick former head of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space, was the first to issue the clearest warning of about the dangers of global warming. Stepping down from his post on April 1 to engage full time in raising public awareness of global warming, Hansen, as environmental activist Bill McKibben recently noted, will continue to conduct "the most important science on the most important question that there ever was."

Hansen replaces Richard Leakey who had to cancel due to illness.
