YP Discussion Group - Coup and Crackdown in Turkey

Events | Young Professionals

Following the failed coup in Turkey, President Erdoğan has carried out a purge of the military, media, universities, and judiciary.  Opponents of Erdoğan see this as a more aggressive continuation of his already-existing authoritarian agenda.  Rumors about U.S. complicity or foreknowledge will surely damage an increasingly important alliance.  Where is Turkey headed?  Will the crackdown continue indefinitely?  What are the broader implications for the region?
