Culturally Relevant Teaching Workshops
Workshop#1: Sparking & Sustaining Connections through Student Voice
DESCRIPTION:
This workshop will explore how to empower educators with opportunities to leverage student voice in the classroom. All participants and facilitators will share unique perspectives, strategies, and ideas from their teaching backgrounds. This workshop will provide a space where educators can support each other.

Meredith Wales (Skyview High School) and Ben Bruhn (Plymouth High School)

Join a safe space to share experiences during a time when some educators are facing fear and intimidation
CULTURALLY RELEVANT TEACHING ALIGNMENT:
Building from past WorldOregon workshops, the Education Advisory Council will center collaboration on Culturally Relevant Teaching practices: Knowing Yourself, Knowing Your Students, Capitalizing on Student Expertise, and Making Language Count. WorldOregon believes that global perspective centers on leveraging the lived experiences of educators and students to support the development of empathy and connection.

Middle or high school educators/administrators/student teachers

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS:
3 PDUs for Oregon teachers & 3 Continuing Education Clock Hours for Washington teachers
