Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program III

18 visitorsNear East and Africa

In 2015 we are once again hosting the Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program and are looking for host families for August 21-29.  The program will bring 15 high school students and 5 adult mentors from Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania and Togo.  Sponsored by the US State Department and aims to build a network of young leaders from different ethnic, religious, and national groups willing to promote mutual understanding and community service.

The visiting participants are 15-18 years old, French-speaking, and are selected by their local U.S. Embassy for the program.  Host families must have one French-speaking family member.  Hosts provide a bed, breakfast and dinner, transportation to and from the Council’s downtown office during program days, and an American home experience.  Weekdays the visitors will visit youth groups, meet with civic leaders, attend workshops, and complete community service projects.  The World Affairs Council provides lunches, cultural events, transportation to meetings and appointments, and a recreational activity one day each weekend.

Learn for yourself how much fun it can be to host an international visitor.

To apply please fill out the attached hosting application on the upper right or contact Andrew Neal at (503) 306-5216.
