Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program I

18 visitorsNear East and Africa

In 2015 we are once again hosting the Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program and are looking for host families for March 20-28.  The program will bring 17 high school students and 2 adult mentors from Angola, Malawi, Mauritius, Nigeria, and Zambia.  Sponsored by the US State Department and aims to build a network of young leaders from different ethnic, religious, and national groups willing to promote mutual understanding and community service.

Homestay host families provide a bed, breakfast and dinner, transportation to and from the Council’s downtown office during program days, and an American home experience.  Weekdays the visitors will visit youth groups, meet with civic leaders, attend workshops, and complete community service projects.  The World Affairs Council provides lunches, cultural events, transportation to meetings and appointments, and a recreational activity one day each weekend.  The visiting participants are 15-18 years old and are selected based on academic performance, community involvement, and English language proficiency.

In addition to the 17 student participants, 2 adult chaperones will be traveling with the program.  We are looking for homestay hosts for these adult visitors as well.
