Create Your Legacy at WorldOregon
As a WorldOregon supporter, you have demonstrated your personal commitment to creating positive, international understanding between Oregonians, and citizens across the globe. As a result, we have provided you with the tools to learn about and engage with unforgettable people and issues for over 70 years – from hosting international visitors, to hearing from inspiring leaders, to education opportunities that invite students of all ages to open their minds to those beyond our immediate borders.
Now we ask you to consider a different type of gift – a special gift to WorldOregon through your estate plan that will ensure these opportunities are available for generations to come. Your legacy will be secure with WorldOregon.
The Joseph M. Ha Legacy Society
WorldOregon has named its Legacy Society to honor a visionary member of our community whose life was a testament to the WorldOregon mission. Dr. Ha was known for saying, “I look at how people are similar, not different”.
Dr. Ha served on both the Board of Trustees and Board of Advisors, serving as Board Chair from 1982-1983. His family ultimately made a significant gift to WorldOregon from Dr. Ha’s estate that positively altered the course of the organization.
Joseph M. Ha was born in Korea in 1937. He completed his formal education in the United States. In 1971, Dr. Ha joined Lewis & Clark and ultimately chaired the International Affairs Department for 22 years. He served as a consultant to Nike on global business issues for 15 years, and became the VP of International Business and Government Relations, supervising work in Korea and Japan.
How Can You Leave a Legacy?
More than 90% of estate gifts come in the form of bequests. Here are some options to consider. You may want to consult with your attorney or financial advisor as you consider these options:
- Provide for WorldOregon in your will or trust by including a bequest provision indicating either a specific gift amount or a percentage of your estate.
- Make WorldOregon a beneficiary designation through a retirement plan, life insurance policy, or investment account.
- Consider alternative gift options for tax purposes, including a charitable remainder trust, or charitable lead trust.
“Foreign affairs impacts us every day, every year, every century. World Oregon is thus vital to keep us aware, informed and involved. That is why I have included a bequest to World Oregon in my estate plan.”
US Ambassador (retired)
