Start the School Year by Hosting a Youth Activist

News | Cultural Visitors

This fall brings two great hosting opportunities with high school students from South America and Africa.  Sponsored by the US State Department, these programs select teen leaders from around the world and give them the skills and knowledge to improve their community:

  • September 19-30: Youth Ambassadors Program with students from Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru exploring human rights (more info)
  • October 10-18: Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program with French-speaking students from Niger, Republic of Congo, and Cote d'Ivoire (more info)

Seeing Oregon through the eyes of local families gives visitors a deeper understanding of our community and builds international diplomacy from the bottom-up.  Host families provide a supportive family environment, an individual bed, breakfasts and dinners, and assistance with transportation to and from our downtown office. Weekdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm the visitors will participate in workshops and program activities coordinated by the World Affairs Council of Oregon.
