Presented in partnership with the Northwest Film Center, director Ilana Sol’s documentary tells the story of Japanese pilot Nobuo Fujita, who catapulted his seaplane off a submarine, flew over the Oregon coast, and became the only pilot to bomb the US mainland during WWII. Two decades after his daring mission, Mr. Fujita was invited back to the region by a group of young business leaders interested in moving forward beyond the tragedies and hardships of the War. Despite many threats, Mr. Fujita returned to Oregon, not as an enemy, but as a friend. Samurai in the Oregon Sky chronicles how Mr. Fujita came to refer to his former target as his second home. (Oregon; 2019, 48 mins.)

Come early for a reception and stay for a post-film panel discussion with director Ilana Sol and film subjects Pat Bowers and Greg Oberst. Reception starts at 6 pm.
