International Visitor Program Officer FULL TIME

The International Visitor Program enables cross-cultural conversations and facilitates professional knowledge exchange between Oregon communities and the world. 

WorldOregon partners with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to facilitate inbound exchanges with young, emerging, and established leaders from around the world. Visitors are nominated and selected by U.S. Embassies around the world to travel to select U.S. cities for several weeks. Program activities reflect the professional interests of the visiting leaders and U.S. foreign policy goals including topics such as environmental sustainability, transportation accessibility, advancing minority rights, and more! 

This is a unique opportunity to plan and implement inbound international exchange programs, including the prestigious U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, at Oregon's premier international affairs organization and contribute to its mission of connecting Oregonians to the world.

Administrative Assistant PART TIME

A unique opportunity to use your administrative and organizational skills, as well as an interest in global issues, to work with Oregon's premier international affairs organization and contribute to its mission of connecting Oregonians to the world.

As an administrative assistant, you enjoy working on a wide variety of administrative projects and tasks in a fast-paced work environment. You are both comfortable talking with people on the phone and designing an Excel spreadsheet. You are detail-oriented and a problem-solver. You enjoy thinking through processes and how to make the organization function more efficiently. You are a self-starter who can work independently. You are curious about the mission of WorldOregon and interested in learning more about how our programs work together to fulfill our goals.

Current Internship & Special Volunteer Opportunities:

Global Classroom Culture Box Volunteer

WorldOregon is seeking a part-time volunteer or intern to support the Culture Box Program of its Global & Multicultural Resource Center. This position is ideal for someone with a flexible schedule looking for an interesting, fun volunteer commitment that helps bring the world to the classroom, such as a former K-12 teacher.

Global Conversations Intern

WorldOregon annually presents over 60 public programs exploring everything from hard-hitting global perspectives on climate, war, peace and security, trade and economics, the refugee crisis, and more. The Global Conversations intern will be involved in event logistics for two high-profile WorldOregon events:

  • Great Decisions is a nation-wide program of the Foreign Policy Association to broaden public involvement with the most important foreign policy topics facing the U.S. WorldOregon annually curates local and national authors, academics, and political leaders to speak on selected topic in an 8-week series beginning in mid-January at Portland State University.

  • International Speaker Series, going into its 20th season, is one of the nation’s premier platforms for international affairs. The series puts you in the room with the global leaders, visionaries, and inspiring voices that are changing our world— from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton, Shaun King, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Madeleine Albright, among others.

International Visitor Program Intern

The International Visitor Program (IVP) team is responsible for approximately 500 international visitors each year participating in short-term professional study programs. The intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with an aspect of American foreign policy, which promotes citizen diplomacy thorough international friendship and understanding. S/he will be encouraged to escort visitors to appointments and attend professional meetings and will have an opportunity to meet WorldOregon staff working in additional areas that may be of particular interest to the intern.

Do you need credit for a school project or class? We welcome statements of interest throughout the year for any student who would like to get involved at WorldOregon to fulfill service learning requirements for their academic pursuits.
