International Visitor Program Intern

The International Visitor Program (IVP) team is responsible for approximately 500 international visitors each year participating in short-term professional study programs. The intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with an aspect of American foreign policy, which promotes citizen diplomacy thorough international friendship and understanding. S/he will be encouraged to escort visitors to appointments and attend professional meetings and will have an opportunity to meet Council staff working in additional areas that may be of particular interest to the intern.

Great Decisions & International Speaker Series Intern

Great Decisions is a nation-wide program of the Foreign Policy Association to broaden public involvement with the most important foreign policy topics facing the U.S. The FPA's annual Great Decisions Briefing Booklets provide excellent background and analysis of these topics and serve as the focal point for the many small discussion groups that form around Oregon and the country. WorldOregon recruits local and national experts to speak on each topic in an 8-week series beginning in mid-January at Portland State University. The Great Decisions intern will assist with event logistics for the PSU series, as well as doing outreach to local organizations, centers, and libraries to promote Great Decisions discussion groups in the Portland metro region. This intern will also have the opportunity to support event management for WorldOregon’s high-profile International Speaker Series.

Development and Non-profit Management Intern

The Development department at WorldOregon is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of membership and donor relations and is ideal for someone looking to gain real world experience in non-profit management. In addition to becoming familiar with non-profit membership processes, the intern will have opportunities to develop their research, writing, and event planning skills. This intern will primarily report to the Development Manager.
