Social Media Volunteer (Virtual)
WorldOregon is seeking a volunteer to manage its social media editorial calendar. Using Hootsuite and source materials provided by the WorldOregon staff team, the volunteer will prepare and schedule content adjusted for each social media channel, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The Social Media Volunteer will maintain the Facebook events calendar, and will review social media analytics for ongoing optimization.
From time to time, and depending on availability, WorldOregon may ask the social media volunteer to design materials, or write additional content, including e-news articles, website content, etc.
The Social Media Volunteer will have the opportunity to go through an orientation process with members of the WorldOregon staff, and will regularly report to the Director of Programs, and the Development Director.
- Interest in the WorldOregon mission
- At least 1-2 years of experience with Hootsuite and managing social media platforms
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Must pass a background check (requirement for all WorldOregon volunteers)
Hours per week:
The Social Media Volunteer position will likely require 10+ hours per week and will all be done virtually. We are flexible, and happy to work around your schedule.

Opportunities to volunteer with our events will resume in 2021. An updated schedule with upcoming events will be posted on this webpage when our in-person events resume.
Events volunteers assist with tabling, set-up, guest check-in and registration, and take-down. This position is ideal for someone interested in global issues and international affairs. Volunteers assist for a few hours per event, and can participate one time or on an ongoing basis.
Please note that we are not currently recruiting interns for the remainder of the 2020-2021 academic year. We will update our website in Spring 2021 when the application cycle resumes.
The International Visitor Program (IVP) team is responsible for approximately 500 international visitors each year participating in short-term professional study programs. The intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with an aspect of American foreign policy, which promotes citizen diplomacy thorough international friendship and understanding. S/he will be encouraged to escort visitors to appointments and attend professional meetings and will have an opportunity to meet WorldOregon staff working in additional areas that may be of particular interest to the intern.
